Ruaha National Park

4 Days 3 Nights Explore Ruaha Adventures

Enjoy a safari to Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s largest park. It’s a vast wilderness in the southwest of the country visited by only a handful of travelers each year. At the park’s heart is the aptly named Great Ruaha River, a massive watercourse that dwindles to only a few pools in the dry season, but bursts its banks and roars over boulders at the height of the rains. Go for an excursion where you’ll see the rare antelope, small and large mammals and a variety of reptiles and bird species.

And the risk is considerable: not only from the prides of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog.
